The Usborne Beginners collection, almost exclusively authored by Stephanie Turnbull,
is a great resource for kids ages 3-10.
These are nonfiction books with great images and concise, clear information
in a format that is fun to read and easy to retain. Most titles are around 30 pages long, in large font. Books include a Table of Contents, a Glossary and an Index…great teaching tools!!
Younger children will request these titles over and over again,
just as they do with favorite picture books.
Older children can enjoy on their own, as they become experts on topics of
high interest to them, and even reference them for school-related research.
There are so many titles to choose from that every child's interests are covered!
A set of these Usborne Beginners is a great replacement for the set of Encylopedias
many parents had on their shelves growing up.
These titles are inexpensive ($5) and most used copies are in great condition
if a title that interests your family is out of print.
Here is a partial list of the large selection of titles available:
Tadpoles & Frogs,
How Flowers Grow,
